About me
I am deeply committed to offering counselling and psychotherapy because so many of us struggle at different points in our lives - with our thoughts, our feelings, our relationships, or the situations we find ourselves in. When we don’t know how to make sense of what’s happening or how to move forward, it can leave us feeling alone, anxious, angry, overwhelmed or stuck.
I believe that each of us holds an inner capacity to overcome our struggles and that it is within a safe, warm and accepting relationship that we find the resources to heal and grow. My aim is to provide you with that relationship, where you can gently explore what’s going on for you, deepen your understanding of yourself, gain new perspectives, and find more fulfilling ways of living and relating.
I’ve been working in private practice for over 14 years with previous experience in a range of settings including the NHS, Fegans (now Spurgeons) and As You Are (low-cost counselling service). Before training as a therapist, I worked in international marketing, which gives me a particular understanding of the pressures, demands and politics in high-intensity work environments. As a therapist, I continue to work with clients both locally and internationally and value the richness of working across cultures. I am fluent in German and have a good working knowledge of French.
Practice description
I am a humanistic integrative therapist, meaning that my approach is shaped around you as an individual. Our work will be paced carefully and collaboratively. Where helpful, we may begin with stabilisation - supporting you to better manage difficult feelings and reduce overwhelm so that our work feels safe and grounded. As therapy unfolds, we may explore aspects of your past and your hopes for the future, with particular attention to how these are influencing your life in the present. Together, we may work with things such as early relational experiences, internal conflicts, unhelpful beliefs, or coping strategies that once served you, but may now be contributing to your difficulties.
I hold a particular interest in working with trauma, including acute, chronic, complex and vicarious trauma. This can relate to early attachment experiences in childhood, significant loses, or events that felt emotionally or physically overwhelming at any stage of life (e.g. bullying, accidents, domestic & sexual abuse, natural disasters, war). Working with trauma means I support clients with a wide range of struggles including: anxiety, depression, stress, anger, relationship difficulties, issues of identity, self-esteem, addiction & self-harm, feelings of isolation, and questions around meaning and life direction.
I am a Certified Lifespan Integration therapist and where appropriate, and if it feels right for you, I may integrate this gentle body-mind approach into our sessions.
I also offer Supervision for Lifespan Integration therapy.
I can help with:
Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Business coaching, Childhood trauma, Chronic Illness, Depression, Fertility related issues, Identity issues, Life choices/direction, Neurodiversity, OCD, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's Health Issues (e.g. Endometriosis, Menopause), Work related issues.
